1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Shugs (available at shugs.app and via our iOS app), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Shugs. If you are under 16, you need parental or guardian consent in line with UK GDPR requirements.
2. Description of Service
Shugs is a Type 1 Diabetes companion app. It connects to your Dexcom continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and Apple HealthKit to read your glucose data and other health metrics. Using this data, Shugs identifies patterns and generates observations (we call them “nudges”) powered by AI to help you spot trends in your glucose management.
3. Not Medical Advice
Shugs is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
Everything you see in Shugs — including nudges, patterns, scores, and observations — is informational only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice from your doctor, endocrinologist, diabetes specialist nurse, or any other qualified healthcare professional.
Always consult your healthcare team before making any changes to your insulin doses, medication, diet, or exercise routine. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in Shugs.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 999 (UK) or your local emergency number immediately.
4. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You agree to notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorised access to your account.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including any data you manually enter into the app. Shugs relies on the data it receives — if that data is inaccurate, the observations generated may be unreliable.
5. Subscription & Billing
Shugs is a paid subscription service. Pricing depends on how you subscribe:
- Web (via Stripe): £9.99 per month
- iOS (via Apple In-App Purchase): £12.99 per month
The price difference reflects the platform fees charged by Apple for in-app purchases.
Subscriptions renew automatically each month. You will be charged at the start of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
If you subscribe via iOS, billing is managed by Apple and is subject to Apple's terms and conditions. We do not have direct control over Apple's billing processes.
6. Cancellation & Refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel, you will retain access to Shugs until the end of your current billing period.
- Web subscriptions: Cancel through your account settings or by contacting us at hello@shugs.app.
- iOS subscriptions: Cancel through your Apple ID subscription settings. We cannot cancel Apple subscriptions on your behalf.
We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. For iOS purchases, refund requests must be directed to Apple.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, design, code, and branding in Shugs (including the name, logo, and nudge text) are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of Shugs without our written permission.
Your glucose data and health information remain yours. We do not claim ownership of your personal data.
8. Limitation of Liability
Shugs is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the AI-generated observations will be accurate or complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of Shugs.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
9. Data & Privacy
We take your privacy seriously. Shugs collects and processes glucose data from your Dexcom CGM and Apple HealthKit, along with any information you provide directly.

10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Shugs if you breach these terms, misuse the service, or if we are required to do so by law. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you beforehand where possible.
Upon termination, your right to use Shugs ends immediately. You may request a copy of your data before your account is closed by contacting us at hello@shugs.app.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. Your continued use of Shugs after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
